Jumblies workshop drop-in visit

CATS had the great opportunity to be invited to drop in on Day 5 of Jumblies’ Artfare Venture workshop lead by Ruth Howard, Artistic Director of Jumblies Theatre.  The workshop was a 6 Day intensive exploration on learning how to create projects in a community setting (and so much more).  The participants were all very welcoming and from many different artistic backgrounds. The performances that were presented  were all very original and enjoyable to experience. CATS is looking forward to participating in the next Artfare workshop which will be sometime later in the year. Congrats to Ruth Howard for such a successful workshop!

Fundraiser Success!

Thank you to all who came out to support and help raise funds for CATS (Community Art Time Studio) and Cosburn United Church. With your support, we were able to raise over $2000. The proceeds went into providing free/low cost art programming and supporting the Church. We had a wonderful turn out and lots of activities including a Kid’s Zone, Art Show, Artisan’s Market, Bake Sale, High Tea and Evening Performance (by Capricorn 9 Productions). A big thank you goes to our local businesses who donated various items for the silent auction. We would also like to thank our local city councillors Fragedakis and Tabuns for dropping by and showing their support. We look forward to the next event!Image

A Visit From East End Arts and Community Consultation

On August 17th, Cindy Rozeboom of East End Arts (a Local Arts Service Organization (LASO) created to serve the east end of Toronto) held a community consultation meeting at Cosburn United Church. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss and receive feedback from local community members involved in the arts. As CATS’ representatives we were very pleased to meet other artists (writers, musicians, singers, choral members, playrights and visual artists). The meeting went well with everyone contributing to the discussion and providing input through their own unique perspective regarding the topics and issues relevant to the arts in our community. The general consensus was that having an organization likes East End Arts (EEA) is essential to promoting arts and artists in the East End. We hope to collaborate with the EEA and individual/groups of artists in the future.
